How I see this work:
I am your guide on the healing journey; you’re the expert on where you’re coming from and what you need to move forward, even if you don’t know it yet. Our goal is to remove the obstacles that are keeping you from the healthy relationships you’d like to have with others and yourself so you can confidently move in the direction of wholeness and a life that feels like a full bodyYES.
what is integrative somatic therapy?
Integrative Somatic Therapy is a form of trauma therapy that works from the bottom up (body to mind). Because trauma is stored in the body, we have to work with the body in order to heal, not just the mind.
Integrative Somatic Therapy is a holistic practice that incorporates 8 core elements:
Supported Postures/Restorative Yoga
Mindfulness Practices
Breathwork Techniques
Resilience Enhancement Practices
Hands-on Healing Modalities (Bodywork)
Bioenergetic Unwinding
Sound Healing
Ceremony
How these elements are applied is based on the client’s needs and resonances, with practitioner input and intuitive suggestions. This means that we are co-creating your healing process with each session.
Ceremony involves how we open and close our sessions, whether that is lighting a candle or sharing a mug of tea or ringing a chime. We use restorative yoga postures as resting places to connect with and find safety in your body, as well as calming and relaxation. Gentle, mindful touch along the lines of Thai Yoga Massage, as well as breathwork, is incorporated with full consent in order to move trauma out of the body, which can also involve bioenergetic unwinding, as well as to provide grounding and soothing after activation. Sound healing can be incorporated as vibrational healing or music that soothes or helps to connect to emotions. Mindfulness and resilience enhancement strategies allow us to build our tools and resources for regulation, both during and outside of sessions.
